Our house in Carona
Come and visit us in Carona, a quiet alpine village in Lombardy, in the heart of the Orobian Alps. You will find a carefully renovated apartment, designed for those who love the warmth of wood and the tranquillity of nature.
The house is located in "Porta", in a quiet corner of the village, a short walk from the shops, the lake and the trails leading to the mountain huts.
This house belonged to our great-grandmother: we wanted to renovate it by using local materials such as stone and wood, preserving its ancient charm.
Our wish is to offer an authentic and peaceful place to those who want to spend a few days in the mountains.
If you want to feel in touch with nature and at the same time feel at home, we look forward to welcoming you to our holiday home Kayla & Ambra - Mountain Retreat.
The spaces
The rooms
Kayla & Ambra - Mountain Retreat is a three-room apartment set over two levels, furnished in a traditional and essential style.
On the ground floor there is the living area with kitchen and living room in fir wood boiserie, a bathroom with shower and a storage room. On the upper floor there is a double bedroom and a second bedroom with three beds, one single and a bunk bed. The wooden furniture, with fir and antique larch elements, gives the rooms the typical warmth of mountain houses.
The apartment is fully furnished. The sleeping area has linen and cotton bed linen, pure wool blankets and duvets. The living area features a fully equipped kitchen (pots, fridge, freezer, oven, dishes, cutlery, electric kettle and teapot) and basic supplies such as oil, salt, tea, herbal teas, coffee and sugar. There is also a sofa, chairs and a garden table, board games, books to read and a TV. In the bathroom you will find towels, shower gel, a hairdryer and a washing machine with detergent. The apartment has its own heating system.
We only ask you to bring a pair of slippers to wear indoors to protect the parquet.

The village and its surroundings
Carona is an ideal starting point for exploring the Sentiero delle Orobie and reaching, on foot or by mountain bike, the many alpine lakes and the mountain huts above the village (Rifugio Calvi, Longo, Laghi Gemelli, Terrerosse).
On warm summer days you can stroll around the village lake, soak up the sun and, if you wish, have a refreshing swim in its waters. The botanical garden offers a quiet, cool spot where you can try the Kneipp barefoot path. Finally, in just 15 minutes you can reach the typical alpine hamlet of Pagliari, characterised by ancient houses and pools of clear water.
In winter you can choose whether to go for a winter walk or snowshoe hike, set out from the house on skis for some of the most beautiful ski-touring routes in the valley, or head to the downhill ski slopes of the nearby Carona-Foppolo ski area. In the village there is an ice-skating rink next to the lake, while in Roncobello village (20 minutes away) there is a cross-country skiing and skiroll track.
Carona reveals its most authentic charm mainly outside the peak season.
Autumn is the ideal time for photography lovers: the larches light up the woods with their yellow shades, creating landscapes of extraordinary beauty. Spring, on the other hand, is the perfect time to experience nature's awakening and its beautiful blossoms.
In bad weather you will find in the house chess, draughts, playing cards and books to read, or you can relax at the San Pellegrino Thermal Spa or in the nearby spa of the Villa Carona hotel.
The Brembana Upper Valley offers plenty of places where you can taste typical local dishes, such as polenta taragna, casoncelli, pizzoccheri and formai de mut cheese: we will be happy to give you some advice.

Free public parking nearby. Carona can also be reached by bus from Bergamo (link). On request, for those travelling by public transport, we can pick you up at the Piazza Brembana bus station (15km away) if there are no buses when you arrive.

About us
Kayla & Ambra - Mountain Retreat
Kayla & Ambra - Mountain Retreat brings together the names of our daughters and represents a small project born from the desire to share a place we are particularly attached to.
We love travelling and we have always done so with curiosity and respect, approaching places and people with discretion, in search of their authenticity. Nepal, Ladakh, Kashmir, Iran and Morocco are just some of the countries we hold in our hearts for the hospitality we received there. Our wish is to share the same generous and sincere welcome we received.
We are passionate about trail running, ski mountaineering and cross-country skiing. We love gardening and we are cat lovers.
We live in the village, just five minutes from Kayla & Ambra - Mountain Retreat, and we would love to meet our guests, get to know each other and have a coffee together. We speak Italian, English and French.
